bro a s mathew- your compliments are noted, hereby.your preaching is a waist if there is no audience.if there is no-audience,then who are we preaching to- bare-walls? preaching like teaching is an art, which requires a certain skill.its not what you preach(only right preaching),but how you preach.if you can create "eagerness and anxiety" among the audience, your preaching will be worth-while.

self-denial and suffering is good in prayers and meditation, its a means of honoring god, the almighty.those gospel are not for the beginners and that's why you don't get an audience there!

the creator expect his creation to prosper,so there is nothing wrong in preaching about prosperity.the creator wants us the creation to prosper in peace, wealth and happiness.then again its not "the prosperity" that's the problem, but how you prosper.if you prosper by the right means, then its alright before god,if you prosper by the wrong means, then its unholy to god.we the 'ones' has to make the choice

brother truth seeker: hearty congrtulations in your high score rating by the believers journal readers. as i have mentioned in one of my previous comments, i am not writing for beating others in score rating or to get into an election and fund raising. i get very high score from the readers while i write comments pertaining to the economic and social issues in secular news papers like the economic times-times of india and in many karnataka papers. noah didn't get may supporters to listen to his warning sermons of forthcoming flood! if i preach the judgment of god or the gospel of self-deninal and suffering, nobody will come to listen, but if i preach the prosperity gospel, there will be a rush to hear that soothing gospel. god wants his children to be peace-makers. brother, in my younger days, while i watched the pentecostal believers, their love-joy and peace were the catching points, and the movement began to grow fast. return to those days. may god richly bless you.

bro a s mathew- no wonder i am overwhelmed with compliments as i move on, its also heartening to see that bro asm, you, regained your eighth sense. i think we need to learn to preserve our 'peace and friendship' amidst our dis-agreements.

i do not know if you have seen the cartoon, in the news-papers, of the 'opposition-benches' and 'treasury-benches', members of the kerala legislative assembly, going to the cafeteria, at break-time, with some of them hands crossed on the others shoulders, in total-friendly manner.same has happened in lok sabha too. if you haven't seen it--- draw a similar cartoon about it yourselves and look at it.

there are lessons, to be learned from it- now, let us think of it, in a positive-manner and not as cunning-ness of the members.

the peace of the lord which sur-passeth all understanding be with you, time after time, bye n bye ____

brother truth seeker: i wrote a comment addressed to you, but rapture took place to the comment before it was finished. it has been a great pleasure debating with people like you, and many other commentators in the believers journal. when we write comment with a humble and loving spirit, even if there is a vast disagreement, we can overtake the frictions and can very easily end the debate in love and harmony. let the name of our lord jesus christ be exalted even through our disagreements in the debate. god bless you my brother.

Brother Truth Seeker: As we are concluding our debate with mutual love and respect, even though we were standing apart in our political views and social obervations; and if this format and diplomacy are followed in the Church elections, that would have been great. If the debate is CHRIST-CENTERED, the conclusion will be in peace and harmony. On the other hand, if ego and hatred are the key factors in any debate, the end reusult will be a deeply divided fellowship. It has been a great pleasure debating with you, God bless you my brother.

bro a s mathew, from gov: romney, i true that "we" jumped and hopped, but they are related subjects. the story you told me right now is true, i have read about it.

"the mahathma" read the bible and was highly respectful of bible. he was very appreciative of western christian missionaries, but the preferences shown by the british regime in social-places highly irritated "the mahathma"

its only the social status in his set-up prevented "the mahathma" from openly accepting christianity.

its has always been a pleasure taking to you asm, even thou we go bezerrk at times.

@ truth teller- once upon a time there was a gal who lived on this planet. her name was sharon. now let me assume that you know the meaning of the name sharon. but,she always had a beefed-up-angry-square-face.the dilemma of the people around her was to call her sharon, because she was named sharon, your name or assumed one reminds me of that.its only your ignorance that make you depict me that way. i only have christian love towards, and i am talking based on that.please take your unholy attitude somewhere else, its not going to pass-off well with me. i asked you a question, and now you are trying to deviate from it.your man "r" stands for it and i think you have no problem, with it.your social-issue is not so big now, because we have bigger issues,so don't stand for it, 'cause you may fall down. you reminds me of the story of the bhramin who would carry his expensive umbrella everywhere even when its not raining,to show that he is rich, while he got nothing.

Truth Seeker: Brother, from President Obama, we have jumped into the Indian political history, hopefully the readers may not dislike it. When Mahatma Gandhiji went to attend an Anglican Church in South Africa, the Priest and one Church member didn't allow him to be inside the Church. If they treated Gandhiji with Christian love, Gandhiji would have been an open Christian believer. He didn't like the Old Testament, but when he read the new Testament, Mathew Chapter 5 changed his life totally. The last song he sung, the day before his *** was " when I survey the wonderous cross". In Sbarmathi Ashram, Gandhiji had a picture of JESUS with an inscription under that " He is our peace". When the U.S. Journalist Louis Fisher questioned him, why being a Hindu, Gandhiji had Christ's picture, his solid answer was " He is our peace". How, you can repudiate the open reality that Gandhiji had spiritual strength in his life as a follower of Christ?

i am focusing on those social issue because your man "o" supports those and you just like it correct? you are telling me i have nothing to do? i think you are making a joke out of yourself and spending time writing a book of words on this forum. so take your hatred for me, somewhere else and show your real pentecostal love for others. your philosophy reminds me of those thick skinned achayan that came from india and now having a life of such prosperity in us.

a s mathew- contd-1- cleaned public places and toilets himself and told others to do the same. the courteous and sensitive english-men were wise enough to recognize that and that's why india got its independence. americans are no better, the only deference is that they didn't try on india, but they tried with other nation and is still trying. time magazine is a private enterprise,so you cannot say the state published, that photo of mahatma.time magazine also did that for lucrative purposes,to sell their magazine, because mahatma was at the peak of his fame at that time and still he is.after all what did we achieve from the freedom we got.we still do not know how to handle our freedom. have you counted how many times lok sabha has adjourned before time,do you know how many thousands we need to conduct lok sabha one day, have you calculated the money were are waisting right there ? we owe the british for the english we speak and the rail- gaadi,we use, india would have been better of-- ???

contd:2 even at our homes, we have disagreements, but love will cover the multitudes of frictions. this economic crisis might be a

great warning light for the believers to look back to the first century church. the money raised in the church in those days were primarly used for the economically suffering believers of the church.

the religious hierarchy of all the christian denominations from kerala are in a total rush to cross the arabian sea and the atlantic ocean, terribly driven insane to establish their positions and to expand the real estate empire. but, we can watch the sad side of the story, many congregations, even closer to the leaders are not even visited

a s mathew- i am not making a big issue according to you,for calling "mahatma" half-naked,even though it is a big issue for an indian, but that its unusual for an indian to say that and,i was requesting you to reframe from doing it any further.

i agree with your view that the british were using india for lucrative purposes and not just india, many other eastern countries, with a fake name english east india company,i know these things.but that was there only motive being in india.

i do not agree with your statement that the mahatma had spiritual powers and india gained independence because of that. the mahatma didn't had no spiritual powers in him, but he had read the bible and was highly appreciative of christian religion,so was dr rajendra prasad and dr sarvapalli radhakrishnan.

the mahatma was a man of great mental strength and an idealist. he practiced what he preached a thing you seldom see in the world. he practiced non-violence, took "sufferings" to prove his po

brother truth seeker: i am complimenting you about the walmart incidence, and perhaps that topic can draw attention of the readers about the economic catastrope we are currently faced with. i live in a state where we had the greatest number of bank failures in the nation. i was faced with such situations in walmart-in gas stations, and to my great surprise in newark airport (inside the terminal) more than a year back. the austerity measures undertaken by the eurozone countries has created farther deeper economic crisis. now, the u.s. is going to adopt the austerity measures here, through downsizing the national budget-cutting down many social programmes; on the other hand the government is forced to increase the tax. what will be the outcome? more people are going to be unemployed, and we are going to see more financial misery in the richest nation of the world.

Truth Seeker: You are making a big issue out of my wording of "half naked man". You are highly exalting the greatness of the British people. Their two indirect contributions for India were the "English Language" and the railway system. The Americans gave great reverence to Mahatma Gandhiji, if my memory is correct, the Time Magazine put his picture at the front page" as the man of the year" in 1935. Now, the Great Britain is going through serious economic crisis, so their old ego might have drastically changed. Britain used India as a lucrative country to market their products on the one hand, and to collect the raw materials for the industrial use on the other hand. They never wanted to give freedom to India. What I was specifically pointing out was, the freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhji had a spiritual power in him, that did play a key role in getting indpendence. I do really appreciate your response, even though we are standing far apart in our political views.

but what i am certainly sure is that, englishmen's courtesy and sensitivity was a key-factor in india gaining independence, even though there were little-hitlers like gnl dire on the way.

i very seldom come across any indian who calls mahatma,a half-naked man and you happened to be one of them.if you are a proud indian please reframe from calling mahatma,a half-naked man.

i had often seen western-press say that,to make fun of him.western-world didn't take him seriously, either.not until recently the western-world knew that mahatma had a law degree and that he was a barrister in south africa.the film "gandhi" helped that exposure.

i would prefer to call mohandas karam chand gandhi as "mahatma" and would reframe from referring him as half naked-man. mahatma chose that clothing not to represent one's nakedness, but he was

Truth Seeker: I can't tell it affirmatively, however simply assuming it, while reading the biography of Dr. E. Stanley Jones. He was an international figure. Dr. Billy Graham became the Whitehouse Pastor since the Presidency of Dwight D. Eisenhower until George Bush Jr. Dr. Stanly Jones was the Whitehouse Pastor of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. On the other hand, Dr. Jones was a very close friend Mahatma Gandhiji, Pandit Nehru and other political leaders of India. Dr. Jones wrote a biography of Gandhiji and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. read that biography and adopted the non-violent movement to win the civil rights movement. This mutual friendship has played a key role in influencing President Roosevelt to exert extra pressure at the British Government to give freedom to India, which might have played a partial role in getting freedom for India. Dr. Jones had a great love for India and the people of India of all religious background.

Truth Seeker: Please find out some of the pictures of Gandhiji. He was bare chested in most of the pictures, that is what I meant half-naked. If you think that India got independence from Britain due to her generosity or compassion, that is a misconception. President Franklin D. Rossevelt pressured the British government to give freedom to India, even though Winstin Churchill was against that but the next administration gave freedom to India. Do you think that, India could have won freedom through gun and dagger? Never from the mighty British power. The charity you have shown to the stranger would be blessed by God, and we will find many such people in stores-gas stations etc. 50 million people are in poverty line, and the number is getting larger, and now we have great a opportunity to show our Christian love to total strangers, do it generously and we are going to be greatly blesssed in these hard times through divine provisions; that is GOD's promise.

@ truth teller/asm- what are you guys really doing about what you criticizing. ofcourse america and the whole world needs god, who said otherwise. but president obama is the best bet under the given conditions not romney. mitt romney was dumped by the people 'mainly' because of his lack of strategy and not because of his religion, plus he fumbled in lot of conversations in public. people clearly understood he didn't knew what he was talking and didn't look sincere in his talking.

asm- you said naked-gandhi was able to up-hold morality and moral standards and thereby india got independence. now i know what your talking is . if naked gandhi was naked, how was he a stature of morality, what are you talking asm ?

india gained independence because some of the british were considerate to the human sufferings lead by gandhi. if british wanted to rule india for some more time, with an iron-hand they could have easily done so.

TRUTH TELLER: Thank you. In Mathew 6:33-34, JESUS said " But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble". This country has gone far away from GOD! In every national ballet to check about the national concern and priority, economy was ranking over 70%. Moral issues, whether it is murder-rape-hmosexuality or anything else had the lest concern for the average person, which is a clear indication that the U.S. is morally bankrupt. During the 2nd world war, both Japan and France were hit very hard, and those two nations were leading nations at that time in homosexuality. It is high time to put our whole trust in GOD, than trusting in the politicians to solve many complicated problems we are faced with today, and the situation is getting very alarming all over the world.

truth teller: the 2nd paragraph of your comment, three lines are exposing some serious thought provoking ideas. when franklin d. roosevelt took the office in 1933, the laissez-faire had already craked the citadel of u. s. capitalism, thrown a quarter of the labor force to the unemployment line and the gross national product was reduced to 50% which provoked muttering of revolution. he made a statement in september 1932 " the presidency is not merely an administrative office. that is the least of it...... it is pre-eminently a place of moral leadership". how the skinny-half naked mahatma gandhi won freedom for india, simply through his "moral leadership" and he got that inspiration from the beatitudes taught by jesus in the sermon on the mountain. when franklin d. roosevelt applied the moral leadership, he could do miracles, and the false prophecy of karl marx that capitalism would be destroyed by its contradictions didn't materialize.

Let alone anybodies beliefs, that is their personnel choice, we are concerned only about their "GOVERNANCE", pentacostal or no-pentacostal, that has nothing to do with it.

Of the two between Obama and Romney, and no other better choice, Obama seems to be a clear-cut choice.

i do not care if he is muslim or a christian or even a mormon. but a man with integrity will stick to his core belief. obama has not shown any indication of him being christian. he instead is for abortion, homosexual relationship and top of it he is very sketchy about supporting israel. all these shows what he is not a true christian, if he profess to be. this is the primary reason i did not vote for him. he is the man who cannot be trusted. how many of you know that his real name is barry soetoro? why is his college transcripts sealed? if anyone know the answer please let us know.

bro Mathew- I agree with your observation that everything ultimately depends on the omnipotent power, God and his blessings. But Man's efforts always has a credible[counted] value before God. God does evaluate weather he is right or wrong, wise or foolish. We are supposed to live up to that expectations, and what when we[some Presidents] mess-it up time after time. I have observed America does good things and bad things. We help poor nations and later on we also put a bomb over their head, why ? Lets solemnly pray for the American Presidents, to grant them the "wisdom" to lead the nation.

bro Mathew- this conversation has nothing to do with our friendship, as we can be friendly and differ in our views. If you are telling me that human efforts and endeavours has no value before God,its going to be hard for me to accept it.I respect God's creation and he did not create a mule,I believe. When these{some} Presidents mess-up an economy due to wrong decisions and then shed crocodile tears,God is not going to listen. Then again I am not lessening the need for prayers and divine blessing. My point is- man's capability and skills has a credibility even before God,because he is his creation, just like a father expects his son to act and react in an appropriate manner, the way he is being taught.Let alone Obama's beliefs, that's part of dirty politics, mixing religion for acceptance and support from all sectors, we know,I am looking at his actions. Let us[the Presidents] stand-up to Gods expectations and act accordingly and then do the prayers. If there is no answer, please don't !

Many missionary movements like the C.M.S. (Church Missionary Society) L.M.S. ( London Missionary Society) Salvation Army, Moravians from Germany etc went around the world for evangelizations. Now, the Churches in Europe are getting empty and non-Christians have bought many of the Church buildings and turned as their worship centers. In China, there was only 5 million Christians when Mao took control of China in 1948, and the Church began to grow underground. Now, there are more than 120 million Christians in China, Church buildings are popping up all over China.

brother joy: i am not deviating the subject, but simply pointing to the point that the economic growth of this nation was not strictly based on the smart brains or great economists this nation had, but america had some special blessings from above. gov. romney was not like another delano rossvelt, so the people voted for the preferable choice. since obama has suffered financial setbacks in life, he will do anything possible to help the poor and the middle class. i will be getting more red dots for my frank talk through the "believers journal". since i am not going to be in any religious politics of any kerala denomination or in a fund raising, i am not worried about the red dots. i might have written this event earlier, however writing it again. i met a five ladies from holland at the bahrain airport in 1999. when i asked them about the low attendence in their churches, they said in one voice " we don't need god's help, we can handle our own affairs without his help".

bro mathew- i think the focus of the whole conversation is about who candeliver the goods and not abouteents. this economy was already destined to become messed-up right from reagen's time ageorge bush added fuel to it. i am not roo sure about obama about his religious belief's nor romney is any better. i was talking about the political skill and administrative capablity of obama versus romney. why can't i compare india and america ? do you mean to say america needs jesus but india is alright worshipping snakes, cows and donkeys ?

brother joy: i am not disputing your political observation or conclusion in the comparison of the presidential candiates. why you do compare india with the u.s.? india's political history and the u.s. political foundations are totally different. the migrants came from europe, landed in the u.s. for religious freedom. the universities like harward and yale were started as theological institutions, and later on they became secular educational institutions with a department of theology. the role of the word of god, the bible is very highly and uniquely visible in the u.s. political history. when we study the old testament history, those nations when they began to forsake god and his laws, god took the blessings from them. can you tell authoriatively that president obama is believing in jesus christ, as the former presidents did? or simply jesus as one of the deities like the universal unitarians believe? jesus is alive: when i saw some of his u-tube speeches, i am in total confusion!

to a s mathew- i am not disputing the need for a divine guidance form up-above, as i am aware of the fact that the imperfect man being an imperfect being has limitations. my observation is based on the american scenario, about these two candidates and how americans were trying to differentiate them. there are exceptions to every rule and observations. we have very successful administrators in india, can you tell me which god they pray to? isn't snakes, cows and donkeys, 'the gods', to them? then again i not disputing the need of a divine blessing. i mentioned all of this to prove a point-- "an administrator needs a certain level of administrative skill". a priest or a pastor needs to know the best-way about how to preach. a lawyer needs to know the best way how to present the case, etc etc. they are bare necessities for the job.

Brother Joy Chembakasseril: The 2nd U.S. President John Adams quoted Psalms 127:1 at his inaugural speech, and the same verse was quoted by John F. Kennedy at his inaugural speech " Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor invain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain". Some of the very successful American presidents had no law degree from Harward or a political science degree from Yale. The aviation ministry of India as a routine put an IAS officer to run Air India, and that is getting into deeper debt every year. Being the the President of America, the most powerful person in the world to rule the wealthiest and powerful country in the world, he or she must have greater divine guidance; all the political and administrative skills have some limitations. During the 2nd world, the brilliant PM of England Winston Churchill routinely took the daily war reports to the Westminister Abbey and prayed for GOD's help. Why?

when i choose a president or a prime minister or an administrative head, i am not looking at what religion they follow or what sandwich they prefer to eat, but i am looking at what they can administer to the people or the nation or the economy. i am looking at their administrative skills and their choice and preferences in administering. i would prefer to have a christian protestant as the president. under the circumstances and with no other better choice, president barak obama is a better bet.

Contd:3 We got into the idol worship of our hand-made wealth while we ruthlessly condemn those people worshipping man-made idols! Apostle James stronly did condemn the undue honor given to the rich and the disregard displayed towards the poor in the first century Church. We may have spiritual giants in our congregations, but the spiritually bankrupt rich people are controlling the Church administration while the poor spiritual giants are treated like cockroaches. How many Pastors have the guts to stand firm and neutral in between the rich and poor in the Church? We can see pure idol worship in the Church world of all denominations. A good majority of the people migrated to the U.S. from India, especially from Kerala were from financially backward families. Do we remember about those olden days? It is high time for a genuine restitution because our "idol of wealth" is in serious predicament.

contd:2 president reagon got a very weak economy with high interest rate from president jimmy carter. within weeks after taking the u.s. presidency, the u.s. economy was turned around. also, god used him along with margret thacher and pope john paul ii to demolish the

communist empire without exploding a nuclear bomb. president obama cancelled the national day of prayer in 2008 without understanding the gravity of the issue. he might not have ever read " but, thou shall remember the lord thy god: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth ...deuternomy 8:18. more than 75% of the people of indian origin voted for the democratic candidate which i can't blame because we are all here due to the revised immigration policy undertaken by the late senator edward kennedy and signed by

president lyndon b. johnson. we all came to the u.s. due to the freedom-opportunity and the prosperity experienced here.

YOUNGMALUDOCTOR: Thank you so sincerely for your supporting comment. When President Franklin Delano Rossvelt became the U.S. President, the unemployment was 25%. He was a strong belivers in GOD, and GOD used him to change the economy. America, being the only nation in the world formed and established, stricly based on the Biblical foundation now lost the focusing. President George Washington-John Adams-John Wesley Adams-Theodore Rossevelt-Abraham Lincoln- and few other Presidents were highly spiritual and the word of GOD inspired them greatly. Even though President Dwight D. Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan were not highly professing Christians, but they were strong believers. When President Reagan delivered the first State of the Union message, breaking the regular protocol, he asked the U.S. congress-Judges-ambassadors and the distingushed guests to stand up and close the eyes to pray silently for five minutes.

Brother A. S. Mathew, I'm disheartened to see that people did not agree with you. I think you are absolutely right. It is a shame that Republicans only had a Mormon to offer. It is equally sad that a man who supports abortion, homosexual rights, and violence towards Israel and pretends to be a Christian has been given another term.

Our Prime Minister is Sikh and most of the cabinet members are Hindus.

UPA leader Sonia is a Hindu follower. When we are looking for leadership of a country like US, we don't look for whether they are

mormon, or jehovah witness..etc..That is not the right thinking.

Even our Pastors who are in the leadership are not working for the poor people. They are looking to bribe money and save their chair.

brother doulos: Many believers are still under some false notion that everything is fine. Indeed, we are going through tribublation now, it is high time to seek the face of GOD and to humble overselves. It is terribly painful that the Republican party didn't get a candidate from any of the mainline denominations, but got only from LDS. Natural calamities like hurrican Sandy etc are clear indications of forthcoming trials of life, and serious economic crisis is ahead of us.
